There are lots of walks to explore in the area, you can walk along Barmouth viaduct and down the delightful Mawddach Trail, which runs alongside the Mawddach Estuary, to the pretty town of Dolgellau along the course of an old railway line.
From Barmouth you can explore the coastline by train too.
Head north to Harlech with its magnificent castle.
Further south is Tywyn, home of the Talyllyn Railway, where you can enjoy a ride on a narrow-gauge steam train into the hills to Nant Gwernol.
Above Barmouth is Dinas Oleu, the first part of land to be given to the National Trust and the views are well worth the steep climb.
If you’re into adrenaline activities, be sure to visit Blaenau Ffestiniog and Zip World, home to the largest zip wire zone in the world, and Bounce Below.

Beautiful property in an amazing location with wonderful views.
Well equipped with quality fittings and furniture.
Pleasant surprise to find milk & biscuits on arrival, very welcome after
a long drive.
Nice little, almost secret, beach opposite the property.
Weather not great but you can’t have everything.

Had a wonderful week at Ty isaf. Immaculate, fully equipped and the owners left us some milk for a cuppa after our long journey. Would not hesitate to stay again. One small thing that would enhance the property would be some furniture on the front terrace so you can enjoy the sunset in the evening in comfort with a cheeky drink.
