Why won't my document upload work, and what can I do?

If your document upload fails, check that the file is clear, legible, and in an accepted format (JPEG, JPG, PNG, or PDF). Then confirm it meets the file size limits and try a different web browser if the problem continues.

  1. Make sure your documents are clear, legible, and in one of the accepted formats: JPEG, JPG, PNG, or PDF.
  2. Check the file size limits. Photo IDs and bank statements can be up to 15 MB. Registration and constitutional documents can be up to 30 MB, but only as PDF. The minimum size is 100 KB (1 KB for PDFs).
  3. Screenshots of ID documents are not accepted by Adyen.
  4. If the upload still fails, try a different web browser.
  5. If the issue persists, contact Holidu support through the contact form in your Holidu account.

Why was my ID document declined, and what can I do?

An ID document is usually declined when it is expired, incomplete, digital, unsigned, or in a name that doesn't match your registration. Review the requirements below and upload a new file that meets all of them.

Your ID document must meet these requirements:

  • It must not be expired.
  • The machine-readable zone must be visible, where applicable.
  • It must be a physical photo ID. Digital IDs are not accepted.
  • If the document has a signature field, it must be signed.
  • The name on the ID must exactly match the name you provided during registration. If the names differ, for example after marriage, the check will fail.

Accepted photo ID types:

  • Passport: the data page with photo, details, and machine-readable zone visible.
  • National ID card: front and back, each side uploaded as a separate file.
  • Driver's license: front and back, each side uploaded as a separate file.

The uploaded document must be a full-color, straightened image with all corners and edges fully visible. It must be a photo or scan of the physical ID, not a screenshot, printout, or photo of a screen.

Considerations for France: French national ID cards issued between January 2, 2004, and December 31, 2013, have a validity extension of 5 years beyond the original expiration date, making them valid for 15 years. This extension does not apply to IDs issued to minors or to other document types.

Considerations for Greece: We recommend using your passport for identification.

What is an individual tax ID, and why is it needed?

An individual tax ID is your personal tax identification number, which Adyen may require as part of identity verification. It is separate from any business tax ID or VAT number. The format depends on your country, as shown in the table below.

If automatic verification of your tax ID fails, you may be asked to upload an official document from a government authority that shows your name and tax ID number.

Can I use a joint bank account for payouts?

Yes, you can use a joint bank account for payouts. You will need to provide proof that shows the names of both account holders so the account can be verified and processed.

Where can I find my business registration details?

Your business registration details appear on an official document issued by a public authority, government agency, or judicial authority, typically the local commercial register. The document must be no older than 12 months, or include a signature and a state-of-affairs date within the last 12 months.

The document must show your legal entity name, which is not the trading or doing-business-as name, and your registration number. Check that your business name, registration number, and other details match your official documents to avoid delays.
