To connect your Holidu calendar with another platform, you use iCal synchronisation. Log in to Holidu, open iCal & Synchronization under Configuration, and paste the iCal links between the two systems. Once the sync is set up, your availability updates on both sides, which lowers the risk of double bookings.

This article explains which channels are supported, how to import and export an iCal calendar step by step, important notes for Booking.com, Airbnb and VRBO, and tips for fixing common sync problems.

The following channels are not supported: Rentals United, Kigo, TripAdvisor, Siteminder, Homerez and Belvilla. Outlook and iCloud Calendar have not been tested, so we cannot confirm that they sync correctly.

If your calendar is not on this list, ask your external provider whether they support two-way iCal synchronisation.

How do I import and export an iCal calendar?

The steps are the same whether this is your first sync or an additional one. The only difference is the button you click in step 4.

  1. Log in to the other channel and find its iCal sync options. Copy your iCal URL (the export link).
  2. In another browser window, log in to your Holidu account and select your property.
  3. On the left-hand side, under Configuration, scroll down and click iCal & Synchronization.
  4. Choose the right button for your situation:
    • First-time setup: click "Configure".
    • Additional sync: if you already have a synchronisation and want to add another channel, click "Add new synchronization".
Then select the name of the channel you want to sync from the list.
  5. Follow the two steps on the setup screen:
    • Step 1 – Import: paste the iCal URL from the other provider into the "Address of iCal" field.
    • Step 2 – Export: copy Holidu's iCal URL and paste it into the iCal import section of the other provider's platform.
  6. Click Save.

Important notes for Booking.com, Airbnb and VRBO

  • Booking.com: In the export settings on Booking.com, tick the box for Booked and Closed Dates. This makes sure both confirmed bookings and manual blocks sync with Holidu. For step-by-step help, see the Booking.com iCal instructions.
  • Airbnb: The Airbnb iCal only syncs dates from today through the next 364 days. Dates beyond that range will not sync, so block them manually if needed. For more information, see the Airbnb iCal instructions.
  • VRBO: Follow the VRBO iCal instructions to set up the connection on the VRBO side.

What should I do if my calendar does not sync?

Most sync problems have simple causes. Try the following tips.

  • Check the URL: Make sure the iCal URL was copied in full and without typos. A single missing character can stop the sync.
  • Refresh your calendar: If the calendar does not update straight away, click the green "Refresh" button. Blocks can take a few minutes to appear. Google Calendar updates about once per day.
  • Run a manual test: Create a block in each calendar and check that it appears in the other one. This confirms the sync works in both directions.

Compatibility cannot be guaranteed for every external iCal calendar, so always check that your sync works as expected.
