As a host on Holidu, your main responsibilities are to keep your calendar and property information accurate, communicate clearly with guests before and during their stay, avoid cancellations, and provide invoices when guests request them. You are responsible for delivering the stay that guests have booked.
Booking guidelines
What is your role as a host?
You are not just hosting a property. You are providing an experience to your guests. The booking contract is between you (the host) and the guest, with Holidu acting as an intermediary.
During your guests' stay, you or a designated person should be reachable, either directly or through someone in charge of the property.
How should you communicate with guests before arrival?
For a more personal experience, contact your guests early about their arrival. Share the following details:
- Estimated arrival time
- How to collect the keys
- House rules
How should you support guests during their stay?
Be ready to help if issues come up. If a problem occurs at the property, respond quickly so your guests can enjoy a stress-free stay.
Why should you avoid host cancellations?
Cancellations disrupt plans for both hosts and guests. They can also affect your property's performance and may lead to penalties. Aim to avoid cancellations whenever possible.
How do you provide a receipt or invoice to a guest?
If a guest asks for a receipt, provide a receipt or invoice that shows the total amount paid. You can issue it with Holidu's tool. For step-by-step instructions, see How to issue an invoice for a guest.
Please note: Holidu only provides guests with a booking confirmation. The invoice you issue through Holidu is an individual fiscal document and should not be shared with guests.
Account configuration guidelines
Who is responsible for the accuracy of your account configuration?
You, the host, are fully responsible for the accuracy of your configuration. Holidu's local teams are happy to guide and assist you. However, Holidu is not responsible for keeping your property information and settings up to date.
How do you update your account settings?
You can update everything that is configurable in your account yourself, quickly and easily.
How do you manage your calendar?
To prevent double bookings, keep your calendar accurate and up to date. As the host, you set your availability.
If your property becomes unavailable, for example because of renovations, maintenance, or private use, block those dates right away. An up-to-date calendar creates a smooth experience for you and your guests.
What should you do when you change your property details?
If you change amenities, sleeping arrangements, or other configurable settings, update your property description promptly. To learn how, see How to generate your property description.
Whenever critical information changes, such as a pool or Wi-Fi no longer being available or a change in bedroom configuration, it is your responsibility to inform guests with affected bookings. Holidu only steps in for very urgent cases, such as when the check-in date is extremely close.
How often should you update your rates?
Update your nightly rate, minimum stay, and extra fees well in advance of upcoming seasons. Guests like to plan their holidays early.
Important: Once a booking is confirmed, the booking price can no longer be changed.
