The CIN (National Identification Code) is a mandatory registration number for all non-hotel accommodation in Italy, including holiday rentals. It clearly identifies your property and supports a transparent short-term rental market.

What is the CIN?

The CIN is required under Decreto Anticipi No. 145/2023. It applies to all non-hotel accommodation providers. The law took effect on November 2, 2024, and all rental properties should have obtained their CIN by January 1, 2025.

Why does the CIN matter?

The CIN makes every property easy to identify. This keeps the rental market fair, transparent, and competitive.

What do I need to do?

  • Request your CIN through the Ministry of Tourism's online platform, Banca Dati Strutture Ricettive (BDSR).
  • Display the CIN outside your property once you receive it.
  • Include the CIN in all rental listings, both online and offline.

What safety requirements apply?

Along with the CIN, all tourist rentals must have:

  • Combustible gas and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Fire extinguishers

Professional rentals, which are managed as a business, must also meet additional safety installation requirements.

How can Holidu help?

To highlight your registration, you can order your official CIN premium badge and make sure your CIN is clearly displayed on your listing.
